Sidereal Initiation Charms
Aug. 23rd, 2013 01:30 pmQuick and simple: terrestrials need to learn two charms to be initiated into Celestial Martial Arts, so I think its just fair that Celestial Exalted have to learn two charms to be initiated into Sidereal Martial Arts.
The Celestials who internalize the lessons properly are usually taught Charcoal March of Spiders (Lunars) or Prismatic Arrangement of Creation (Solars).
No Dragon-Blooded has, so far, managed to survive the initiation into the Blossom of the Perfected Lotus; those who attempted it invariably erupt into uncontrolled displays of elemental essence, their life-patterns dissipating into the Tapestry of Creation.

Prerequisite: Mastery of one Celestial-level style
The character attunes herself to the flows of Fate, and channels some of her Essence into pushing away defeat; this charm's effects manifest when the martial artist invokes a style's Form.
As long as the essence remains committed, when activating a Terrestrial form the character receives a +1 to her DV; the bonus raises to +2 if the Form is of the Celestial level, and +3 if a Sidereal Form.
The character can buy the charm a second time after learning her first Sidereal form, at which point she does not need to spend or commit essence to reap the benefits; the improved DV becomes an innate ability.
This charm specifically can not be activated at the same time the character invokes a Form charm, and most martial artists keep the motes committed until they can afford the second purchase.

Prerequisite: Aegis of a Martial Destiny
Deepening her understanding of the workings of Fate, the character turns the flow of battle against an enemy. Focusing on a singular foe, the martial artist rolls Perception+Martial Arts, with a number of automatic successes equal to her Essence; the enemy resists with a roll of [highest virtue]+Essence.
For a number of Martial Arts attacks equal to the net successes on the roll, the martial artist reduces the DV of her enemy: -1 if she is using a Terrestrial style, -2 if a Celestial style, -3 if a Sidereal style. The reduction applies only to the attacks the character herself performs; she can not erode the enemy's defenses for someone else's advantage.
